Great Parks of Hamilton County offers three scenic campgrounds for a perfect weekend getaway, Miami Whitewater Forest Steamboat Bend and Winton Woods Campgrounds. Scout and youth groups seeking a rustic overnight camping experience can visit one of our youth camping areas.

Miami Whitewater Forest Campground

For a quiet, scenic spot to relax and set up camp, visit Miami Whitewater Forest Campground. Located 30 minutes northwest of downtown Cincinnati, this campground is set back in a wooded area on more than 4,000 acres in Miami Whitewater Forest within walking distance to a harbor and 85-acre lake. Each of the 46 sites is equipped with 30 amp electric hookups, picnic table and fire ring. A newly renovated shower building, playground and dump station are also located within the campground.

Steamboat Bend Campground

Tucked away in a grove of trees on the shores of the scenic Ohio River, Steamboat Bend Campground in Woodland Mound park is a peaceful, one-of-a-kind place. It is conveniently located 20 minutes east of downtown Cincinnati and just five minutes from Riverbend Music Center and Belterra Park Casino. The campground’s 55 tree-lined sites are only available on a weekly or monthly basis to self-contained trailers or recreational vehicles (RVs) with paid, advance reservations.

Steamboat Bend Campground will be closed for the 2018 season while it is being assessed for potential electrical upgrades.

Winton Woods Campground

Winton Woods Campground is set in a pine grove alongside Winton Woods Lake and is within easy walking distance of Winton Woods Harbor, and the boathouse, snack bar and wet playground. The campground is located approximately 20 minutes north of downtown Cincinnati and 30 minutes south of Kings Island amusement park.

Halloween Creepy Campout

Creepy Campouts at Winton Woods Campground have been a Halloween tradition for more than 20 years! Families come to enjoy one last camping weekend of the year, and the not-so-spooky event is a chance to create memories that will last a lifetime. Take part in activities each weekend, including hay rides, storytelling, trick-or-treating and contests for “Best Jack-o’-Lantern” and “Best Decorated Campsite.” 

All 2017 dates are sold out. 

2018 dates go on sale a year in advance for each weekend beginning at 9 a.m. on October 5, October 12, October 19 and October 26, 2017.​

Reserve your site for the Halloween Campouts by booking Friday night only. Select the Friday of the weekend you want as your arrival date and Saturday as your departure date. You will be charged the rate for the entire weekend (both Friday and Saturday night) along with all activities. 

Reservations for each weekend are available one year in advance beginning at 9 a.m. For example: Reservations for October 26-27, 2018, will be available at 9 a.m. on October 26, 2017. (NOTE: This is a change from previous years when reservations would open at 12:01 a.m.)
