Summer Day Hike
Miami Whitewater Forest / 9:00am - 3:00pm
Explore the park on this Naturalist-led hike.  Please bring a bag lunch, snacks and a water bottle. Water will be provided. This hike will cover between five to seven miles. Sturdy shoes will be needed for hiking rugged and hilly areas. Deadline to register is May 27. Register online.

Bring the family out to learn more about these amazing, ancient reptiles and meet a couple of turtles up close!

Everyone In Nature
Sharon Woods / 2:00pm
This program is designed for children with special needs, but anyone can attend! Join the Naturalist as we take a hike through the different habitats of Sharon Woods. Learn which animals live in which habitat, and make a craft after our hike! Please register so the Naturalist can contact you about any special needs your child may have. Summer Sparklers
Winton Woods / 2:00pm
Come learn the basics of identifying constellations inside our giant inflatable dome.  We’ll sit “under the stars” and learn to identify constellations you will see this summer.  Cost is $3 and the deadline to register is May 30. Register online.

Tree I.D. Hike
Fernbank Park Playground
Join the Naturalist as we take a closer look at what makes one kind of tree different from another. Learn how to identify trees as well as some fascinating natural history.

After Work Walk
Winton Woods / 4:30pm or 5:30pm
Take a walk at a brisk pace. We start at 4:30 pm at the Winton Centre for a 1.8 mile walk.  We will then head to the Harbor Pavilion where more walkers can meet us at 5:30 pm. The entire walk will be 5.5 miles.

Walk Club: Wayside Wildlife
Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve Pin Oak Trail / 8:30am
Walk Club members are invited to walk along the Pin Oak Trail where  you will meet a Naturalist and maybe even a wild friend!  This “walk through exhibit” will have wildlife that you may encounter on any one of your walks. 

Pond Clinic
Winton Woods Winton Centre / 6:00pm - 9:00pm
The Hamilton County and Butler County Soil and Water Conservation District is holding its annual Pond Clinic as a service to the public. The event will provide information about constructing a pond, stocking a pond, aeration and maintaining the health of the pond.  There will also be a session about urban ponds and stormwater detention basins.

Twilight on the Trail
Glenwood Gardens Gatehouse / 8:00pm
Meet the Naturalist to see various habitats as we hike the Wetland Loop on our way to Trillium Overlook. We will talk about the efforts made to maintain Glenwood’s diverse habitats.  Wear sturdy walking shoes for a 2.5 mile walk along uneven ground.

Snake Search
Winton Woods Winton Centre / 10:00am
This is one of the best times of year to find snakes! We’ll start by seeing a live snake up close, then we’ll search for snakes along the edges of Winton Lake and nearby trails.  Winton Woods is home to several varieties, including the eastern garter and black rat snake.  None of the snakes in Winton Woods are venomous, but you’ll learn how to recognize venomous snakes and where they are found.

Did you know Ohio is home to eleven bat species? Bring the family to participate in hands-on activities to learn about these beneficial mammals.

Beat the Clock

Come test your knowledge of the animal world.  This game show type program will challenge you and your family to answer questions before time runs out.

Introduction to Cycling

Cycling is a great way for people of all ages to get outdoors, meet new people and exercise while having fun!  Join us for this indoor program focusing on bicycling tips and tricks and learn about upcoming local events!

Native Animals

While fishing at Lake Isabella today, look for the Naturalist and learn about local animals.

Bat Basics
Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve Ellenwood Nature Barn / 8:30pm
Should you put up a bat house? How do you attract them? Are they beneficial? See a program by Bat Conservation International on North American bats and learn about our local bats.

Enjoy a relaxing canoe outing on the lake. Get some pointers on canoeing, learn some lake natural history and head out to enjoy the sunset. Participants must fit properly in provided personal flotation devices. Cost is $6 and the deadline to register is June 12. Register online.

Turtle Tour

The best way to find water turtles is from our tourboat, the Winton Queen. Come out to help us find turtles like the common snapping and painted turtle. We will also see herons and the West Fork Dam along the way. Fee payable at the time of the program. Cost for adults is $3.50. Cost for children and seniors is $2.50. Deadline to register is June 13. Parky’s Farm in Winton Woods is open daily: Mondays - Fridays 10 am – 5 pm; Saturdays, 11 am – 6 pm and Sundays, 12 pm – 6 pm. Pony rides for children shorter than 48 inches are $2.00. The Playbarn is $2.00 for ages 2 to 10 and wagon rides are $2.00 per person.

Whether you’re a katydid or a screech owl, being able to blend in with one’s surroundings is a matter of survival.  Bring the family to test your camouflage abilities through games, crafts and a visit with a master of disguise.

Frog Choir
Sharon Woods Sharon Centre / 2:00pm
Different kinds of frogs have different calls.  When you put them all together it sounds like a beautiful frog choir! Join the Naturalist to learn some of the different calls and participate in our own frog band. You can also make a frog craft anytime between 12 pm and 4 pm.
