Great Parks Joins Clean Sweep of Great Miami River
Great Parks will team up with volunteers to remove tires, basketballs, foam and any other litter that has floated downstream, during the annual Clean Sweep of the Great Miami River, taking place from 9 a.m.-noon on Saturday, Sept. 20, at Shawnee Lookout. (More information below.)
Conservation leadership is a primary goal for Great Parks, which leads annual cleanup activities along the Great Miami and Ohio rivers, plus Winton Woods and other outdoor spaces within its more than 18,000 acres across Hamilton County.
The Clean Sweep of the Great Miami River is a regional effort coordinated through local organizations such as Great Parks to remove trash and restore the health of the river. Cleanup efforts for the lower Great Miami are scheduled for September 20 after efforts along the upper section of the Great Miami took place earlier this year. Altogether, the sweep welcomes thousands of volunteers at multiple locations from Indian Lake all the way downstream to Shawnee Lookout near the confluence of the Great Miami River with the Ohio River.
More information about the Clean Sweep of the Great Miami, and other volunteer events available from Great Parks, is available at GreatParks.org.
