Miami Whitewater Forest

As the largest park, Miami Whitewater Forest offers everything from scenic trails to stand-up paddleboarding, to golf and camping.

Miami Whitewater Forest offers a visitor center with nature displays and a gift shop. The 4,670 acre park also features multiple trails, including the paved 7.8-mile Shaker Trace trail and 1.4-mile fitness trail, as well as the 1.7-mile Badlands, 0.8-mile Oakleaf, 0.6-mile Tallgrass Prairie and 2.1-mile Timberlakes nature trails, plus two horseback riding trails. Visitors can enjoy a 9-hole disc golf course and play or practice at the Miami Whitewater Forest Soccer Complex in a men's, women's or co-rec league. Shelters, picnic areas and a youth camp area are reservable. The park also includes an 11-acre dog park with play fields, an all-season area and a dog agility course.

Boathouse

The boathouse offers row, pedal, motor and pontoon boats, kayaks, stand up paddle boards and bicycles for rent. Licensed private canoes and kayaks and electric and gas motors up to 4 hp are permitted. Bank fishing is also available.

The 46-site wooded campground offers a great weekend getaway with campsites equipped with 30 amp electric hookup, picnic table and fire ring. An accessible shower building, playground and dump station are located within the campground.

The Simmonds Family Dog Park is the largest off-leash dog park in the region with 11-acres for the pups to run. They will enjoy different play fields, shade, agility zones and access to water.

Shaker Trace Nursery

Located in Miami Whitewater Forest, the Shaker Trace Nursery was created in the spring of 1992 to harvest and store native prairie and wetland seed habitat restoration projects. Since then, the nursery has grown to include seed collection and processing as well as raising fish for sustainable stocking of Great Parks’ fishing lakes. Shaker Trace Nursery is comprised of a drying barn, greenhouse, several outbuildings, plant beds and aquaculture ponds.

Soccer Field Rentals

Soccer game and practice fields are available for rent at the Miami Whitewater Forest Soccer Complex. The fields may also be used for Ultimate Frisbee, football, lacrosse, disc golf and more.
