Great Parks has completed a renovation of the disc golf course at Miami Whitewater Forest, including an expansion from 9 to 18 holes, marking the third of Great Parks’ disc golf courses to undergo comprehensive renovation in recent years.

“We are proud to complete another improvement envisioned by the residents of Hamilton County with this beautiful new course at Miami Whitewater Forest,” said Todd Palmeter. “This is yet another levy legacy project, with upgrades that will be enjoyed by guests for years into the future at one of our most popular destinations.”

The most noticeable improvement at the course is its expansion to the full 18 holes. Miami Whitewater Forest now joins Great Parks courses at Woodland Mound and Winton Woods as full 18-hole courses. Disc golfers can also play a shorter 9-hole course at Embshoff Woods Nature Preserve.

At Miami Whitewater Forest Great Parks has added alternate playing options, with each hole now featuring two basket targets from which to choose. Holes at the renovated courses at Woodland Mound and Winton Woods have one basket that alternates between two locations per hole. These enhancements expand the number of course layouts and make the course more adaptable to different skill levels. Great Parks added new signs and concrete pads at each tee, while also advancing on its conservation priorities by removing invasive species, with plans to integrate native trees and shrubs to the course this fall.

When Great Parks gathered input on the future of the parks for its Park and Facility Master Plans, the public asked for upgrades to its disc golf courses throughout Hamilton County. Great Parks has nearly completed that request, having finished upgrades to the course at Winton Woods earlier this year, and at Woodland Mound in 2023. The course at Embshoff Woods Nature Preserve will be renovated next year, with design currently underway.

Renovations of Great Parks’ disc golf courses are supported by the 0.95-mill 2021 levy approved by Hamilton County voters.
