Great Parks Offers Fall-Themed Pumpkin Fun
Great Parks is rolling out the pumpkins for several fall-themed events welcoming people to explore outdoor spaces as the air turns cooler. Two of the signature attractions for the season will take place at the Winton Woods Farm & Equestrian Center and Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve.
Pumpkin Patch
Guests at the Winton Woods Farm & Equestrian Center can pick a pumpkin from the farm’s pumpkin patch. Fall activities at the farm will include pumpkin decorating, face painting, fall-themed crafts and games.
The pumpkin patch is open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on the Saturdays of October 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31. There is no charge for the program. Pumpkins cost $4-$7, are available while supplies last, and can be purchased in advance at GreatParks.org.
Nature at Night Pumpkin Hike
Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve will be lined with decorated jack-o’-lanterns along a self-guided night-time hike through the woods. Guests are encouraged to bring flashlights for the hike in the dark. A drawing will then determine who can take home individual jack-o’-lanterns.
Great Parks will also have a welcoming fire to warm the evening air.
The Pumpkin Hike is Oct. 24 from 6:30-8:30 p.m., with timed entry. Cost is $7 per entry, and $6 per pumpkin. Register for this event at GreatParks.org.
