Great Parks has reopened the Winton Woods Boathouse after recent heavy rains flooded the building last week. Water-based recreation on Winton Lake was also restored last week, after being initially suspended following discovery of a sewage leak and high levels of E. coli bacteria on June 12. All water-based recreation, including canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding and fishing, is now available at Winton Lake, with rentals available at the Winton Woods Boathouse.

Great Parks restored water-based recreation activity on the lake in collaboration with Hamilton County Public Health after testing levels at Winton Lake were found to be within state and US EPA-recommended thresholds, and after repairing a sewage line near Winton Lake. The decision by Great Parks to suspend water-based recreation at Winton Lake was made out of an abundance of caution to protect employees, volunteers, guests and neighbors.

Land-based activities at Winton Woods were not affected. Swimming is always prohibited at Winton Lake in accordance with Great Parks bylaws.

Great Parks expresses appreciation to Hamilton County Public Health and the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati for their partnership through this matter.
