Great Parks is taking children and families to the stars and beyond with the “Out of This World” series at Woodland Mound, April 17-18. This night of stargazing and interstellar imagination takes place at one of Great Parks’ best sites for astronomy – the Seasongood Nature Center at Woodland Mound, which sits on top of a hill and offers expansive views of the night sky.

This program is an annual tradition for Great Parks. Guests can explore the solar system, planets, stars, constellations and more. Telescopes provided by the Cincinnati Astronomical Society will focus on objects in the sky, while hands-on educational stations will provide down-to-earth explanations of what everyone is seeing.

Out of This World has two options to join. The traditional program is from 7-9:30 p.m. on both nights. To enjoy all the activities with fewer sensory inputs, guests can attend the early sessions that take place from 4-6 p.m., also on both dates. Guests seeking additional context and visual representation of the program can request a social narrative by emailing [email protected].

The cost for this program is free and does not require registration. Preregistration is only required for the planetarium, which costs $2. Planetarium guests will need to crawl or move in a crouched position about 10 feet.

(Note: Valid Motor Vehicle Permits are required for every vehicle entering Woodland Mound. Information about purchasing MVPs, and accessing free or discounted MVPs, is available at greatparks.org.)
