Native Plant Propagation

What to know

Protect nature, care for the outdoors and explore Great Parks at our community volunteer project! Help us grow our native plant and seed nursery. These workdays will include a variety of season-dependent tasks, including transplanting seedlings, weeding and maintaining production beds, planting new garden beds and collecting and processing seeds. No prior training is required! You will be working alongside employees and trained volunteers to learn plant identification and propagation skills needed for these workdays. Specific task details will be communicated to those registered closer to each workday.

Woody plants include non-native species like Callery pears, honeysuckle and Oriental bittersweet vines in addition to overgrown native plants like indigo bush.

What to know

Protect nature, care for the outdoors and explore Great Parks at our community volunteer project! To access the Hidden Hollow Youth Camp, a satellite property of Miami Whitewater Forest, there is a long-wooded drive. Along this drive there are many native trees and shrubs that have grown out within the last year. This growth has started to intersect with the drive, and the vehicles that utilize it. Prune and trim the new growth to create a safe, neatly kept passage to the group camp that is greatly utilized by many guests.

Help return the Woodland Mound Fitness Trail to its desired state by filling holes and dips with gravel to keep the trail accessible and beautiful!
