Outdoor Adventure Expo 5K/10K/Kids Adventure Dash

What to know

Lace up for the Outdoor Adventure Expo 5K & 10K — a timed, family-friendly walk/run along Winton Woods' scenic, paved Harbor Loop Trail. Following the races is the Kids Adventure Dash, a 0.1-mile sprint from the playground to the finish line for ages 8 and under. Participants in the 5K & 10K receive a custom medal, t-shirt and other Great Parks swag, while Kids Adventure Dash participants receive their own special prizes.

Discover the ultimate exploration destination for kids and their grown-ups! From ziplining across the sky and floating on the lake to reeling in a fish and taking aim at the archery range, this two-day showcase is packed with fun, hands-on adventures, with each experience guided by Great Parks' outdoor experts and community partners. Young explorers can try something new and build confidence all weekend long through activities like rock climbing, fishing, golf, basketball, yoga and more!

What to know

Protect nature, care for the outdoors and explore Great Parks at our community volunteer project! Help us grow our native plant and seed nursery. These workdays will include a variety of season-dependent tasks, including transplanting seedlings, weeding and maintaining production beds, planting new garden beds and collecting and processing seeds. No prior training is required! You will be working alongside employees and trained volunteers to learn plant identification and propagation skills needed for these workdays. Specific task details will be communicated to those registered closer to each workday.

Beginning Golf I

What to know

A fun way to learn the wonderful game of golf! You will become familiar with the fundamentals of the five shots encountered on the golf course, including wood shots, iron shots, chipping, pitching and putting. Classes will cover fundamentals, rules and etiquette. Classes run five consecutive weeks.
