Scouts leaders, there is no better place for your group to earn their badges than the parks!

Great Parks offers opportunities to work through the requirements for your different nature and animal-related badges with an experienced member of our staff. Sign your group up for an existing program that meets requirements for certain badges or set up a private program for your group. Can’t get to the park for a program? Don’t worry, we also have scout backpacks that you can rent and complete at your own meetings. These backpacks come with all of the instructions and resources you would need to complete the requirements of specific Cub Scout badges.

Available for Scouts

Cub Scout leaders can rent a badge-themed backpack for seven days to complete the badge at their own pace. Backpacks are available for Webelos (Forester, Geology and Naturalist) and Bears Cubs (Sharing Your World With Wildlife) badges. Each backpack contains activities with detailed instructions, along with a list of material that the leaders need to supply. Rentals are $20, plus a $75 deposit that is refundable upon the return of pack and supplies. For more information, call 513-521-7275, ext. 240.

Badge Programs

Smaller scout groups and individuals can participate in badge programs that are offered on set dates and times for predetermined badges at many locations, including visitor centers and Parky’s Farm.

Private Badge Programs
Larger scout groups who are interested in a private scout program can also call and reserve a date and time for just their group. The Winton Woods Riding Center offers the opportunities for badges such as Animal Lover, Horse Lover, Horse Fan and Boy Scout Horsemanship. Or we are happy to tailor programs to your group’s specific interests and experience. For more information, call 513-521-7275.
