Great Parks Rangers Invite Children to Safety Town
Four-wheeled go-karts will swerve between obstacles as drivers learn about safety on the road, in the Great Parks Rangers annual Safety Town event from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, at Winton Woods Harbor.
Safety Town is an opportunity for children to meet and interact with Great Parks Rangers, who serve as the law enforcement arm of Great Parks. As the highlight of the event, Rangers set up an obstacle course with cones, traffic signs and even plastic animal replicas to teach young people safety tips for the road. Each participant walks away with a fun swag bag.
Great Parks interpreters will also be at the harbor offering fun, hands-on, nature-based education.
Great Parks Rangers are state-certified peace officers, trained for emergency response, investigation and reporting. They enforce federal and state laws, and Great Parks’ bylaws and regulations.
Participation in the event is free. Great Parks thanks St. Gregory, the presenting sponsor of Safety Town, plus the Roehr Insurance Agency, supporting sponsor of the event.
(Note: Valid Motor Vehicle Permits are required for every vehicle entering Winton Woods. Information about purchasing MVPs, and accessing free or discounted MVPs, is available at greatparks.org.)
(Notes to editors: Pictures are available in this Dropbox folder. A special session of Safety Town, from 3-5 p.m. on June 3, is being made available to the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati, for children with Down Syndrome and their siblings. While this first session for Safety Town is intended for guests of the Down Syndrome Association to participate, media are welcome to attend both the 3-5 p.m. session and the public 6-8 p.m. session, which is indicated below.)
