Winton Lake Community Cleanup

An Earth Month Tradition

Winton Lake Community Cleanup

For nearly four decades, the Winton Lake Community Cleanup has stood as one of Great Parks’ most enduring traditions. Beginning in 1988, this large-scale volunteer effort has brought thousands of community members together through the years to protect one of Hamilton County’s most beloved waterways. What started as a small, local initiative has grown into a signature Earth Month celebration that strengthens habitats, builds community and contributes to a long-standing conservation legacy.

Volunteers are organized into teams and assigned to cleanup locations around the lake, allowing everyone to make a meaningful impact across its shoreline, tributary streams and other natural areas impacted by flooding. Participants receive their location assignment and a map 48 hours before the cleanup. An information tent is also available upon arrival.

Volunteering at Great Parks

With more than 18,000 acres to protect, 84 miles of trails to maintain and daily programs to facilitate, Great Parks’ success is largely dependent upon the immense contributions of volunteers. Through long-term service and one-day volunteer projects, corporate groups, retirees, students, scouts and other dedicated stewards help advance Great Parks’ mission, advocate for its work and elevate community support across the region.
