Do you wish you could improve your outdoor skills in a welcoming, women-only environment? Are you ready to make new friends that you can enjoy wide open spaces with? This is the series for you!

In Women in the Outdoors Series, you’ll cultivate your skills, discover new friends and begin your next great adventure. Join our female guides on the trail, on the range and on the water as we build confidence and community together in an inclusive environment.

Women in the Outdoors is a three-season series that kicks off in March with an open house where you’ll meet the outstanding Adventure Outpost instructors and your fellow adventurers.

Classes are for women 21 and over. This series will be held outdoors throughout the year; dress appropriately for the weather and terrain.

Women in the Outdoors: Ladies' Night Out

To kick off our Women in the Outdoors Series, we’re hosting a Ladies' Night Out! Come meet our instructors and your fellow adventurous women while you imbibe an adult or non-alcoholic beverage and enjoy some snacks. Challenge yourself to a round of adventure trivia as we gear up for this outdoor skill series. Beverages and snacks are included with event registration. Saturday, April 22 | 1-3 p.m.
Women in the Outdoors: Archery Basics – Compound Bow

Give archery a shot! Enjoy the afternoon outdoors while learning the basics of shooting a compound bow, then try out your skills with a little target practice! Archery is led by a female instructor and all equipment is provided. For ages 21 and up. Winton Woods/Adventure Outpost ($22/person, register by 4/20)

Women in the Outdoors: Land Navigation

Lost and Cast Away are enjoyable from the comfort of a couch, but certainly not a scenario one wants to experience firsthand. Work with an outdoor instructor to learn how to translate what is on the map to what is underfoot to find your way out of sticky situations. For ages 21 and up. Miami Whitewater Forest/Timberlakes Program Shelter ($20/person, register by 5/18)

Saturday, June 17 | 1-3:30 p.m.
Women in the Outdoors: Kayak Basics – Flatwater

Learn to maneuver a solo kayak on flat water. The class is taught by a female American Canoe Association (ACA) certified instructor with a focus on basic safety practices and paddling techniques. All equipment is provided. Participants must fit properly in provided lifejackets and not exceed 275 lb kayak capacity. For ages 21 and up. Winton Woods/Adventure Outpost ($32/person, register by 6/15)

Women in the Outdoors: Canoe Basics – Flatwater

Learn to maneuver a tandem canoe on flat water. The class is taught by a female American Canoe Association (ACA) certified instructor and focuses on basic safety practices and paddling techniques. All equipment is provided. Participants must fit properly in provided lifejackets. For ages 21 and up. Winton Woods/Adventure Outpost ($32/person, register by 7/27)

Women in the Outdoors: Stand-Up Paddleboard Basics – Flatwater

Have you ever paddled... while standing up? Come join certified American Canoe Association stand-up paddleboard instructors to learn about safety, gear, and techniques to stay on your board while maneuvering on flat water. All equipment is provided. Participants must properly fit in provided lifejackets and not exceed the 250-pound board capacity. For ages 21 and up. Women in the Outdoors: Archery Basics – Recurve Bow

Women in the Outdoors: Backcountry Cooking & Celebration

There is nothing better than a hot meal after a long day of hiking. Explore and test the many options for backpacking cuisine and cooking gear with one of our experienced female instructors. For ages 21 and up. Winton Woods/Kingfisher Shelter ($20/person, register by 10/19)
