Whether you want to begin trail running and don’t know where to start or you are a runner used to pounding pavement and are looking to try new terrain, we are here to help! Our Beginner Trail Running Series is designed to take participants through a trail running program until they can ultimately build up to running a full 5K or 5.6 mile run.
Summer Trail Running Series
Train on the East Side
Nothing better than the East Side? Come find out with Great Parks! Join an Adventure Outpost trail runner as they guide you through 8 weeks of trail running training! These 15 training sessions will have you run through some of the East Side's best parks: Withrow Nature Preserve, Woodland Mound, Sharon Woods, Winton Woods, Glenwood Gardens, and Otto Armleder Memorial Park!
These sessions will culminate in running the East Fork State Park 5.6 miler as a team.

Fall Trail Running Series
Train on the West Side
Is the West Side really the best side? Come find out with Great Parks! Join an Adventure Outpost trail runner as they guide you through 8 weeks of trail running training. These 16 training sessions will have you touring Cincinnati's West Side parks: Mitchell Memorial Forest, Fernbank Park, Embshoff Woods, Winton Woods, Shawnee Lookout, and Miami Whitewater Forest.
This session will culminate in running the West Side Best Side 5k as a team.

Details
- Registration is for all training dates in the selected series, regardless of attendance. Includes the race entry fee, race day support, team tech shirt, and a Wilderness First Aid Certified running guide.
- Team capacity is capped at 15 runners per session (14+, minors must be accompanied by a registered adult)
- Our program is intended to be a beginner-friendly introduction to Trail Running. We will increase mileage from week to week, before tapering as we get closer to Race Day. Group Pace goal will be approximately 10-12 minute miles.
